Uninstall Program

Sometimes you have more programs on your computer than you really need. Perhaps you installed a program that you thought would be useful to you but now isn’t. Maybe you installed a game that you no longer play. Maybe you got a different program that is even better than one that you downloaded before. Whatever the reason, sooner or later, you’ll feel the need to uninstall program data from your computer. The process to uninstall a program is usually quite simple, but there are some cases where it may not be. When it is not, there are still solutions you can pursue.

How the Uninstall Program Feature Works on Your Computer

For many basic programs, uninstalling is a snap. You simply go to your Control Panel (accessible after clicking “Start”) and click on the appropriate icon or link, be it add/remove hardware, uninstall a program, or something similar. You are then taken to an installation Wizard which walks you through uninstalling the program and will usually allow you to uninstall part or all of the program in question.

Problems with the Uninstall Program Process

While this is a great and easy way to uninstall a program, unfortunately, it doesn’t always work. If the program you installed contains some kind of malware, it may be specifically designed not to uninstall easily. In addition, a program may not uninstall because you have accidentally deleted part of the program that the uninstaller needs in order to work. Also, in some cases the uninstaller simply is not able to read the presence of a certain program. Finally, even if you do successfully use the uninstaller, it may leave some residual parts of the program on your computer that you don’t even know are still there.

Uninstall Program Solutions

To give yourself the best chance to fully remove any program you wish to uninstall, you can purchase uninstall program software specifically designed to remove unwanted programs. This type of software can uninstall most programs, even if part of the program is missing, and will usually destroy all traces of the program on your hard drive if that is what you want to do.

Other Uninstall Program Options

It’s also a good idea to get a good anti virus program with early detection, which detects malicious software before it gets into your computer. This can be especially useful when it comes to freeware. Freeware is free software that you may download that can be quite useful, but may also have a virus, adware or spyware piggybacking on it. Once these programs are in your computer, they can be very difficult to uninstall. When you have early detection, you can isolate and quarantine dangerous programs before you reach the point where they need an uninstall program. You may still wish to purchase uninstall program software for those cases where a benign program that you don’t need any more will not be easily removed from your computer, but early detection anti virus software is still a must.
